Jane Gallagher was born in Palo Alto, California in 1930. Her childhood was spent in rural California on farms and ranches among the meadows, orchards, vineyards, and woodlands of Sonoma, Napa, and Lake counties. In these wonderful places, Jane gained a deep, lifelong love of the beautiful California landscape. She lived in semi-rural Portola Valley from 1960 to 2004.
Jane studied art at San Jose State College from 1949 to 1952. Thereafter, she worked as a commercial artist and graphics designer on the peninsula of the San Francisco Bay Area until 1987. For most of her life, Jane painted watercolors of California's varied landscapes. Her paintings sold in many galleries around San Francisco and she won many awards in art competitions.
Jane died in early 2004.
